80s Models

If you were to pick up any fashion magazine in the 80s, you would probably see one of these elite 80s models on the cover.

They were the best of the best, and they probably made plenty of money in the decade.

Christie Brinkley

Christie was one of the most prominent 80s models who also held a record – a whopping 20-year contract with Cover Girl. She was in hundreds of magazines, including the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. To the disappointment of men everywhere, Christie married Billy Joel in 1985.

Carol Alt

Carol was another face of Cover Girl with her striking blue eyes and full lips – she was even nicknamed ‘The Face.’ She worked with Hanes and Noxzema and was in the very first Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Carol was also the first model to produce her own calendars and posters.

Elle Macpherson

Elle is an Australian beauty who became a fixture of Elle Magazine and earned herself the nickname of ‘The Body.” She graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue a record seven times. In 1986, she was featured on the cover of Time magazine, and was also in other publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and GQ.

Paulina Porizkova

Born in Czechoslovakia, Paulina was one of the most in-demand models of the early 80s. She was on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and in hundreds of other magazines – which included a topless cover for GQ and an appearance in Playboy. She also worked with Estee Lauder, Macy’s, and Maybelline.

Cindy Crawford

If anyone could make a mole sexy, it was Cindy. She was one of the hottest supermodels of the 80s, appearing on virtually every magazine from Vogue and Cosmopolitan to People and Harper’s Bazaar. She was also the first supermodel to be featured in Playboy. Rounding out her already impressive resume were names like Versace, Escada, Maybelline, Revlon, and Clairol.

This daughter of a Somali diplomat is not just strikingly beautiful, but also speaks five languages. Iman was Yves Saint-Laurent’s go-to model, and worked with high-end designers like Halston, Calvin Klein, and Versace.

Janice Dickinson

As the self-proclaimed ‘world’s first supermodel,’ Janice was plastered on the covers of many magazines – she even had seven consecutive covers for Elle Magazine. She worked with Alberto V05 and Revlon, as well as modeling for Armani, Halston, Calvin Klein, and Versace.

Brooke Shields

Brooke was the youngest model ever featured on the cover of Vogue magazine. She was also in numerous Calvin Klein jean ads. Brooke was one of the most recognizable faces of the 80s.

Naomi Campbell

Like many models, Naomi was discovered at a young age, and was on the cover of the British Elle magazine. Her career took off from there, and soon she was modeling for the likes of Isaac Mizrahi and Versace.

Linda Evangelista

Linda was essentially the chameleon of the modeling world. During the late 80s, Linda cut her long locks, opting for a drastic new look. She was then dropped from runway events because of the sudden, unapproved change. Ultimately, her drastic hairstyles made her even more popular, propelling her career.

These beautiful 80s models were everywhere throughout the decade – they were in magazines and movies, as well as on runways and television. They had the right look for the 80s decade.
